“Restless II” is a 6-track EP that was released in 2020. It is a 15-minute project that marks a striking sonic move for Simi. Instead of the sweeter Afropop she’s known for, this EP moves deeper into future-R&B and Afro-soul territory with electronic touches, bass-heavy percussion, and intimate lyrical storytelling.
Thematically, it tells us more of a complicated “friends-with-benefits” dynamic: one person catches real feelings while the other resists, regret creeps in, and emotional restlessness takes over. Some collaborations in the EP include Adekunle Gold, WurlD, and Ms Banks, and production by Sess and Oscar.
“Restless II” succeeds at being coherent and emotionally resonant, even if it did not aim at mainstream commercial peaks; it’s praised for its mature songwriting, textured production, and clear concept of yearning and mis-timed connection.
