Olubankole Wellington, known as “Banky W,” is a Nigerian singer, actor, and politician. He was born in the United States on 27th March 1981, to Nigerian parents. His family returned to Nigeria when he was five years old. He started singing at a young age as a member of his church choir. He revolutionized African R&B with hits like “Yes/No” and founded EME, the label that launched Wizkid into stardom. In addition to his music career, he also appeared in “The Wedding Party” and ran for public office.
