Ayinde Bakre Biography

Ayinde Bakare (1912–1972) was a pioneering Nigerian musician who played a pivotal role in the development and popularization of Yoruba jùjú and highlife music, earning the moniker “Mr. Juju”. He is best known for being the first jùjú musician to introduce the electric guitar in 1949, an innovation that fundamentally shaped the future of the genre and paved the way for subsequent legends like King Sunny Adé and Ebenezer Obey.
