AMAKA (born Jessica Nwokike) is a Nigerian-American R&B and Alternative Soul artist who launched her solo career after being part of the R&B duo VanJess with her sister, Ivana. As part of VanJess, she gained recognition for performing covers on YouTube and eventually signed to RCA Records, releasing two albums and touring globally. After her sister departed the duo, Jessica adopted her middle name, Amaka (stylized as AMAKA), as her stage name as an homage to her Igbo background.
