Kizz Daniel dropped his first EP, Barnabas, on November 19, 2021, without any warning. He pretty much just picked out a few songs from his laptop, grouped them, and called it Barnabas.
The EP blends afrobeats, amapiano, and highlife, featuring collaborations with The Cavemen and Kelvyn Colt. Tracks like “Lie” and “Pour Me Water” really took off; “Lie” even sat at number one on several charts for weeks.
The entire project feels laid-back and experimental, as if Kizz Daniel is simply having fun and creating music on his own terms, unencumbered by chasing trends or worrying about what the industry expects. With Barnabas, you get a peek of a more spontaneous, expressive side of him, but he still brings that super catchy, melodic vibe his supporters know and love.
