VVIP, an influential Ghanaian hiplife group, formed as VIP in the 1990s in Accra’s Nima suburb. Founding members included Friction, Promzy, Zeal, Prodigal, and Bone. Their 2003 hit, “Ahomka Womu,” brought significant international fame. In 2013, Promzy left, and the “Godfather of Hiplife,” Reggie Rockstone, joined, leading to the rebranding as VVIP in 2014. The current trio, Zeal, Prodigal, and Reggie Rockstone, continues to blend Afrobeat and hiplife, achieving multiple awards and maintaining a significant cultural impact in Ghana and beyond.
