Fatoumata Diawara is a Malian singer, songwriter, and actress born in 1982. After a childhood spent in Mali where she performed with a dance troupe, she moved to France to pursue acting, appearing in several films and the street theater troupe Royal Deluxe. She later returned to singing, writing songs that blend traditional Malian Wassalou music with contemporary sounds, and has collaborated with numerous artists, earning Grammy nominations.
