Released in 2021, BNXN’s debut album, Sorry I’m Late, serves as an apology to followers eagerly awaiting a full body of work. Spanning seven tracks and under 20 minutes, the album showcases the artist’s defining characteristics, honeyed, soulful vocals, evocative songwriting, and a knack for genre-blending.
The project is remarkably cohesive, leaning heavily into Afrobeats and Afro-Fusion but infused with mellow R&B textures and a touch of Amapiano on the standout track, “Kilometer”. Other highlights include the opener, “Daniel Benson”, where he narrates his journey, and “Ogechukwu”, the album’s only feature, which brings in the Highlife band The Cavemen for a live-instrumental feel.
