The Lagos to Jozi EP, released on November 12, 2021, is an energetic project by Niniola that brings together the sounds of Nigeria and South Africa. The main genre is a fusion of Amapiano and Afro-House. The theme of the EP is pure dance and celebrating the strong musical connection between the two African cities, Lagos and Johannesburg (Jozi). Niniola said her goal was simply to keep everyone on the dance floor.
The EP features four high-energy tracks. Featured artists include South African House music legend Oskido, South African Amapiano star Lady DU, and Ghanaian producer GuiltyBeatz. Two highlight songs are “Commando,” a fiercely upbeat track with Oskido, and “I Did It (Bum Bum)” featuring Lady Du, which became a popular song for its infectious Amapiano rhythm and fun style.
Lagos to Jozi successfully showed Niniola’s skill in adapting her voice and energy to the Amapiano sound, proving her title as the “Queen of Afro-House.” The entire project is short but powerful, delivering on its promise of non-stop dance music that connects different African sounds.
