As a sequel to her first album, which received critical acclaim, Simi released “Simisola (Deluxe)” in 2018 on X3M Music, expanding her original masterpiece to 16 songs. The deluxe version keeps the soul and storytelling aspect of “Simisola” (2017) but adds a fresh depth and replay value through bonus materials and reinterpretations.
Simi stays true to her Afro-soul, R&B, and highlife mesh, delivering messages of love, brokenness, spirituality, and self-realization with the same warmth and candor. Songs like ‘Joromi’, ‘Smile For Me’, ‘Gone For Good’, and ‘Aimasiko’ remain central to the album with the bonus tracks – a recut mix of ‘Original Baby’ featuring 2Baba among them, which brings new energy and multi-generational appeal to the project.
The deluxe edition shows Simi’s evolution as both a vocalist and songwriter. Her crisp production, handled mostly by Oscar Heman-Ackah, stays lush and organic. “Simisola (Deluxe)” is more than a re-release but a celebration of a defining era in Simi’s artistic skills.
