Olamide’s 2021 album, UY Scuti, marks his ninth studio release and represents a notable evolution in his sound, leaning heavily into a more global, mid-tempo Afrobeats and Afropop vibe rather than his traditional rap style. The album is named after the red hypergiant star UY Scuti, one of the largest known stars in the universe.
The 10-track project was produced by Eskeez and P.Priime. It features collaborations with a select group of artists, including the hit single “Rock” and “Jailer” with Jaywillz. Other songs include “Julie,” “Cup of Tea,” and “So Much More”. Phyno appears on “Somebody,” while Layydoe is featured on “Rough Up,” and Fave lends vocals to two tracks, “Want” and “PonPon”. The album’s concise 28-minute runtime allows for a cohesive listening experience, highlighting Olamide’s versatility.
