Dave Scott Biography

David Lee Scott Jr. (1972–2025) was a self-taught hip-hop pioneer from Compton who revolutionised dance in film and television. Originally a college basketball player, he rose to fame by choreographing hits as “You Got Served” and “Step Up 2: The Streets,” and served as a resident choreographer on “So You Think You Can Dance.”

Scott famously shaped the careers of B2K and Mindless Behavior and worked with major artists including Tyrese, Ginuwine, Bow Wow, Brian McKnight, Usher, P-Square, and Janet Jackson. He passed away on June 16, 2025, at age 52.
