Olamide’s 2024 project, the EP “Ikigai / 生き甲斐, Vol. 1”, was relased June 2024 as a vibrant tapestry of global sounds. The title itself, meaning “a reason for being,” sets a personal tone for the seven-track album. Olamide, often called Baddosneh, serves up a mix that bridges Nigerian Afrobeats with Amapiano, Dancehall, and even subtle Asian-inspired elements.
The EP is packed with collaborations, creating a dynamic listening experience. On “Uptown Disco,” he teams up with label mates Fireboy DML and Asake for a high-energy track. Another standout, “Synchro System,” brings together a formidable crew of Nigerian hitmakers like Pheelz, Young Jonn, and Lil Kesh. Other songs like “Makaveli,” “Hello Habibi,” and “Knockout” (featuring Sabri) showcase Olamide’s versatility.
