Femi Kuti is a saxophonist and activist who began his career in his father’s band, “Egypt 80.” In 1986, he formed “The Positive Force,” establishing a unique sound that mixed traditional Afrobeat with jazz, funk, and hip-hop.
He is a six-time Grammy nominee; his discography includes the classic “Shoki Shoki” (1998) and the introspective “Journey Through Life” (2025). Femi is renowned for high-energy performances at The New Afrika Shrine and has collaborated with global artists like Common and Coldplay.
