Adekunle Gold expands his musical scope by fusing his signature folk-pop sound with contemporary Afro-fusion, highlife, and gospel-inspired melodies, with a wider array of collaborators, including Seun Kuti, Dyo, and Jacob Banks. Songs like “Damn, Delilah” and “Surrender” dive into love’s fragile complexities; “Fame” addresses the isolating pressures of celebrity, and “Mama” celebrates his mother’s sacrifices. The inclusion of the Lagos Community Gospel Choir on “There Is a God” highlights his deep faith in God for divine guidance.
The album’s varied sound reflects Adekunle’s personal growth and introspection. It also showed his transition from a relatable underdog to a celebrated star.
