Flavour’s fifth studio album, “Ijele the Traveler”, released on June 27, 2017, is a 17-track project that further cements his status as a master of contemporary Igbo high-life music. The album is a rich fusion of traditional rhythms with modern Afrobeats, R&B, and hip-hop, featuring collaborations with top African artists including Sarkodie, Phyno, Zoro, Terry Apala, and Chidinma.
The album balances vibrant party anthems like “Loose Guard” and “Baby Na Yoka” with more introspective and spiritual tracks such as the powerful gospel song “Most High” featuring the young Liberian boy Semah G. Weifur. The title track “Ijele” uses a revered Igbo masquerade as a metaphor for Flavour’s significant presence and impact in the music industry. The project was well-received for its consistency and dance-driven sound. Overall, “Ijele the Traveler” showcases Flavour’s versatility and ability to blend cultural authenticity with a global sound.
