Flavour’s fourth studio album, “Thankful”, released in a surprise drop on November 14, 2014, is a defining project that solidifies his mastery of the high-life genre. The 21-track album is a rich fusion of diverse sounds like traditional Igbo rhythms, contemporary R&B, Afropop, skits and even makossa and funk influences.
Lyrically, the album balances vibrant party anthems like “Wake Up” (feat. Wande Coal) and “Sexy Rosey” with soulful love ballads such as the hit duet “Ololufe” (feat. Chidinma) and the wedding favorite “Ada Ada”. Flavour also gets introspective on tracks like “Nwayo Nwayo,” which preaches patience, and “Wiser” (feat. M.I & Phyno), which reflects on relationships and trust. Produced primarily by Masterkraft, “Thankful” received generally positive reviews and is celebrated for its vibrant and bubbly vibe and cultural pride in “Igbo Amaka”.
