Yemi Eberechi Alade, known professionally as Yemi Alade, is a Nigerian Afrobeats singer, songwriter, actress and activist from the Akoko part of Ondo State. She is also known as “Mama Africa” for her versatile use of different African languages and attires. She rose to fame after winning the 2009 Peak Talent Show. Her music is a mixture of Afropop, highlife, dancehall, pop and R&B, and has been of influence in several countries across Africa. She is celebrated for her energetic performances, Grammy-nominated music, and global reach, with hits like “Johnny” being a record-setting African music video.
