Asa sings “Good Thing” from the perspective of a woman who knows she is indeed a good thing, someone who brings love, peace, loyalty, and warmth to the table. For too long, the person she loved didn’t appreciate her.
They took her presence for granted. They assumed she would always stay. The turning point in the track is Asa’s realisation that staying in a place where her value is not recognised is the same as betraying herself.
