Timi Dakolo dropped his third studio album, “The Chorus Leader”, in January 2024, and you can really hear his growth. He pulls together seventeen tracks, mixing soul, R&B, gospel, highlife, Afrobeat, and Afrobeats; always keeping his Southern Nigerian roots front and center. Through it all, he dives into love, faith, identity, and hope.
He’s not alone, either. Patoranking, Phyno, Falz, Cobhams Asuquo, and Black Geez jump in and bring their own flavor, especially on tracks like “Men of the South” and “Happy Fellows.” Then you’ve got those softer love songs: “Ke Na Ke So,” “Iyawo Mi,” and “The Vow”; that really hit home.
The whole album glides from energetic grooves to gentle ballads and soul-lifting gospel, making the journey feel smooth and real.
